Whipped yoghurt and berries: a lighter alternative to whipped cream

Whipped yoghurt and berries: a lighter alternative to whipped cream

When summer is right around the corner, you want desserts that are fresh, quick to prepare and not complicated. If you’re tired of eating strawberries, blueberries or other summer berries just with whipped cream, this whipped yogurt dessert is a must-try.

Thanks to the Greek yogurt, the cream acquires a pleasant, light acidity, and the foam itself is surprisingly stiff. In addition, such a dessert is much less fatty than the usual whipped cream, so you can enjoy it completely without a guilty conscience. 😉

What will you need for this dessert?

The proportions are very simple, and you probably already have the ingredients in the fridge:

  • Greek yogurt: 300 g (I used Alma Greek style yogurt, 4% fat)
  • Whipping cream: 200 g (35-36% fat)
  • Powdered sugar: 2 tbsp. tablespoons (or to taste)
  • Vanilla: half a teaspoon (extract or vanilla sugar)
  • Favorite berries: strawberries, raspberries, blueberries or fresh cherries

Production process

Preparation will take just a few minutes, and the result will surprise you with its texture.

  1. Whipping cream: Pour half of the cold whipping cream into a bowl and beat with a mixer until the cream becomes stiff.
  2. Yogurt mixing: Add all the Greek yogurt to the whipped cream, pour in the whipped cream, add powdered sugar and vanilla and beat until stiff.
  3. Serving: Layer the prepared whipped yogurt cream and fresh berries in glass or dessert bowls. If you want, you can decorate the top with a mint leaf or a few chopped nuts. I had some homemade morels, baked with leftover batter from a rhubarb pie. I crumbled the moringa, then added whipped yogurt and fresh strawberries. Such an accelerated and much fresher pavlova.

By the way, I packed up the rest of the whipped yogurt and took the jar to the farm, even after half an hour, the whipped cream was still stiff and did not thicken!
